Concept
This illustration was inspired by the idea of "Melting in Paradise", a metaphor for how Global Warming is affecting our world. It is an image about contrast and conflict. The environment is bright, bold, and saturated; a feast for the eyes. This is a place so beautiful and dreamlike, yet the Monarchs cannot enjoy it. The Monarch butterfly species is going extinct as a result of climate change.
